As a regular reader and lurker of this list, I am always interested in
job listings. The listings inform me of what opportunities are
available in the world for tech writers and our ilk. On the days when
the traffic is high I'll generally skip (and delete) all the messages
about certification, nomenclature (window vs. dialog box), and whether I
should "click" or "select" and jump right to any job opportunities. If
all the job postings are sent to some other list, I won't necessarily
subscribe to that list, because I am not regularly in the market for a
job, and I don't want an extra list to subscribe to.

I think the way to handle this, for all of you who are potential job
opportunity posters, is to include in the subject line, that your message
is a job posting and where the job is located. That way, we all can
choose whether to read it or not, and be informed as to the the primary
information to make that choice. I strongly object to any guidelines we
might impose that exclude these listings. If recruiters are listing a lot
of jobs, I prefer them to be in one piece of mail, properly noted in the
subject line, so I can choose to read it or not.

The more networking we can do as a community, the more empowered we can
be as individuals. I think that job listings are an important and useful
source of information for all of us in our respective career paths.
