Professionalism, no accident

What constitutes a professional? Is it someone who ignores guidelines
because they don't correspond to their self-centered perception of reality?
Is it someone who resorts to rude remarks like "anal-retentive", when they
disagree with realistic guidelines as though their point of view were so
cosmic? I think not!

Yet, some who call themselves PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATORS ignore the
guidelines of this list as if the universe rotated around them. Did you
people ever consider that it is no pic-nic to moderate a list like this? I
am sure Eric has more enjoyable things to do with his spare time.

So follow the guidelines! Your writing may just improve in the process, as
you learn;
There is no need to quote an entire message. Or do your docs contain
the entire minutes from every meeting you have ever attended??

Discuss the aspects of a tool as they relate to communication issues.
Leave your pulpit/soap box at home where your only your family has
to tolerate it.

CONSIDER YOUR READERS! Put them before your ego.

Communicate like you would if the person was standing in front of you,
in an open field, far from the protection of corporate policies. In
other words, respectfully!

Maybe, just maybe the recent silence of the list was no accident, but a
wake-up call to conformance of the guidelines. Every freedom that has ever
been lost was on account of blatant disregard for the guidelines that came
with it.
