BACKGROUND
Arbor develop and markets client/server multidimensional database software for
business planning and analysis. The company's Essbase product is a powerful
on-line analytical processing (OLAP) solution that integrates data from
throughout the enterprise, including data from relational databases, data
warehouses, and other data repositories. The application allows users to
perform multidimensional analysis on all types of data using popular
spreadsheets. Essbase users can easily access and organize large volumes of
historical data, rapidly perform interactive what-if scenario analyses and
share this information with users throughout the enterprise. Essbase consists
of the Essbase Server, Essbase Spreadsheet Client, Essbase Application
Manager, and Essbase API.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Courseware Developer at Arbor Software will design, develop, and maintain
learner-centered technical courseware for the Essbase product family.
The courseware is designed to be delivered by Arbor's Training Partners to the
Arbor customer base. The Courseware Developer will also develop training aids
that include: computer based training, multi-media presentations, self-paced
guides, instructor guides, and case studies. He or she will work closely with
Sales, Field Services, Product Marketing, and Technical Publications to develop
content for new technical courseware, and will provide input for marketing
collateral as well. He or she will become a product expert and act as a
technical resource to various parts of the organization.
In addition to designing and developing new courseware and instruction
guides, this individual will be responsible for teaching beta classes, and
training Field Services on course delivery. He or she will be responsible
for updating existing courseware to the current release and will become a
release expert, developing partner release training and providing
Train-the-Trainer classes for Field Services. He or she will work closely
with the Education Manager to design curriculum, style guides, and develop
courseware release plans. The Courseware Developer will also be responsible
for automating the student/instructor training files in the classroom and will
assist with maintaining the classroom environment.
The appropriate candidate will have had experience with designing and
implementing technical courseware for the learner-centered approach as well
as the ability to set and meet deadlines. He or she must be able to deliver
courseware within budgetary guidelines, and must work effectively with various
parts of organization. Finally, this individual must have the desire and
ability to increase customer satisfaction by producing quality training
programs.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, CHARACTERISTICS AND KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
3 - 5 years experience in technical courseware development in a
software development in a software (preferably) or hardware environment.
Demonstrable presentation skills.
Product expertise with Windows, Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.
Familiarity with screen insert applications, document management software,
and RDBMS products.
Knowledge of multidimensional databases or EIS applications desired.
Experience with leveraged training programs is a plus.
Experience with multimedia and/or Web authoring tools is highly desirable.
Must have excellent communication and problem solving skills.
EDUCATION
The ideal candidate is required to possess a Bachelors degree or
equivalent experience.
COMPENSATION
The compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience level.
