Tear sheets can also refer to the unbound pages of a magazine. When I worked
for McGraw-Hill, we always had a few editions of each freshly
printed magazine delivered unbound so we could send copies to the authors
or file them for personal use. In this sense, "tear sheet" is a misnomer,
because no tearing was required.
