This is scarey. There are several questions that it's not legal for
a prospective employer to ask, because they may lead to discrimination -
like marital status, etc. For example, I have 2 adopted kids, and am
active on several adoption lists. If a prospective employer goes
trolling as described, that will become very apparent... and said prospective
employer may have a bias against adoption for some reason. My resume would
be dismissed out of hand, for a reason that might never come up in a
professional situation.

and that's a benign example. If someone were active on gay/lesbian
lists, or birth-mother-only lists, or some equally private thing
that should never come up in an interview, this is one way to discover
it.

I haven't anything to hide, myself, but... hello internet, so long privacy.
