Rob Swigart was sort of a technical writer. At one time he was employed by
the Institute of the Future in Menlo Park, CA to write "scenarios"
speculating on future developments given certain present trends (good
training for a writer of sci-fi/fantasy, no?). One of his books, _The Time
Trip_, involves a retelling of Gilgamesh. Swigart also did a poetic riff on
Gilgamesh that was published in a Bay Area anthology called _Coastal Light_.
A very good, very funny, satirical writer (especially _Little America_,
which would make a great movie). It's too bad his books are "hard to find."
