OEM instead of "co-maker"?

Subject: OEM instead of "co-maker"?

Hello to all,

Thanks to all of you who responded to my "co-maker" problem. I think that
the best term that fits is "original-equipment manufacturer". Webster
shows it with hyphen, but I'm not sure if that is modern usage. Any ideas?

Again, I would like to ask the "native-speakers" if "original-equipment
manufacturer" fits the situation of: of a machine builder who designs,
constructs, installs and maintains the machines used to produce an end
product such as candy bars? In this situation the machine builder is not
supplying parts for the final product but supplies the production
equipment.

Are there any other names used in the U.S., Canada or England which might
fit the bill?

Thanks for any and all ideas,

Greetings from Holland,
Ed
