I add:
If you've already checked that and changed your space before and after,
but the space reappears when you reopen the file, check to see if you
have a template attached with the "Automatically Update Document Styles"
checkbox selected (File > Templates). The problem with the style could
be in that template, and everytime you open the document, Word adds the
spaces back. You'll need to change the attached template or just
un-select the checkbox.
