Practical advice for anyone wanting to work an alternate schedule:
Tell your managers what's in it for them. (In other words, apply those
audience analysis principles!) They will want to make sure there is good
coverage of the office, especially if customers need to reach you. At my
office, we work 9-hour days and get a day off every other week. (It's
great because the 9-hour day doesn't seem much longer than an 8-hour day,
but the extra day off really counts.) The managers only get upset if
everyone tries to take the same day off.
