A Request for Information (RFI) is a precursor to a Request for Tender
(RFT).
Generally the RFI process is used to get a feel for what is available
and hence provide a guide as to whom should be sent the RFT. The
responses to the RFI are often used to generate input for the RFT.
Companies often use an RFI when they don't know what they really want,
and the RFI then becomes a vehicle for picking others' brains at minimal
expense.
Getting example copies of these could be difficut since they are
generally at least "Commercial in Confidence" due to their commercially
sensitive nature. Sorry I can't help in that area even though I have
produced both.
I am happy to provide any further help, if I can, offline.
