Keith....I'm doing the same thing (different product) ;-}

Here's what I do.

In the Start | Program | Accessory Group, there is a utility that comes with NT (and 95 btw) called Clipboard Viewer.

In fact, I have it in my startup group so that it is always hanging around.

When you come to a screen that you want to capture, press Alt-Printscreen. This sends the window to clipboard. Switch to Clipboard viewer, (make sure that you have Window | Clipboard selected, not Window | Local Clipboard selected). You will see the screen you just captured.

You can now save the graphic as CLP type of graphic. I usualy just name them consec 1.clp. 2.clp, 3.clp and in my notes, place a 1, 2, 3 in brackets. That's my note to myself that this graphic gets inserted here.

I save the files to a folder on the network. When I get bacl to my station, I harvest the graphics to my local machine in a directory with a name corresponding to the name of the station I pulled the graphics from.

Paintshop Pro imports CLP files. I use PSP to crop/touch up the image, save as wmf and import into my Frame document.

It takes loess than 10 seconds per graphic and everyone in my group that I've shown this to likes the process. In fact, sometimes I'll get an email with an attached CLP with a note "This error message got displayed in my application. You might want to add it to the documentation".

Subject: Capturing screens during installation

Hello:

I'm writing a manual for a server product that runs on Windows NT.
Windows NT has to be installed in a certain way because of some hardware
considerations. Is there a way to capture screens during the
installation process? I'm sure I could mock up the screens if I have to,
but I would rather grab the screens as I go through the motions.

I would appreciate your help.
