There is another good reason why a manager can not manage offsite.

A managers job is to "hold" the department together, in one way or another.
Some managers are management-X, some Y, some laissez-faire; but they manage.

If the manager was off site for more than one day a week, it would be too
easy for disgruntled employees to sabotage the managers career.

Every time even the most pick-snickly thing came up, there would be someone
bemoaning the fact that the manager "was never around".

You could here the employee whine: "Ms Pointy Hair Boss never comes to work
anymore!"

This form of employee whining is like the squeaky wheel: management would be
in a dither within days.

Think about it...
