This discussion then begs the question, What does the "number of help wanted
ads" statistic we hear about actually mean? The numbers are occasionally
quoted alongside interest rate increases, unemployment stats, CPI, and other
economy-related figures. I know this is off-topic, but maybe it doesn't
indicate a slow-down in private sector hiring or a reduction in open
positions. But what does it indicate?

The Boston Globe recently published their second largest help-wanted section
ever. Did this indicate that there were near-record numbers of unfilled
positions, or record numbers of companies looking for other information? Is
there a corellation?

All of our major newspapers in Toronto allow people responding to *blind*
ads,
to also submit a list of companies to which their response should not be
sent.
If there is concern that your current employer is merely *trolling* to seek
out disgruntled employees, this type of service is very valuable. If your
current newspaper does not provide this service, why not lobby them to
start?
