Well, Netscape is going to provide full CSS2 support, anyway.
Microsoft claims that providing full standards support limits them, so they
will not be supporting the standards in 5.x. The Web Standards Project and
other customers are trying to convince them otherwise, but so far have not made
any progress in doing this.
It appears the goal of MS is to be unique enough to cause problems for anyone
who doesn't use their products. Time will tell if this will continue to pay off
for them; so far it has, but so far there hasn't been a browser out there which
supported all the standards. Once a fully standards compliant browser hits the
street (if it ever does) we'll see if their strategy continues to pay off.
