Kathy Stanzler asks Does anyone have any thoughts on a company in which all
technical writers are "Technical Writers," regardless of experience, number of
years, etc.?

Some form of grading is important. We have 5 pay grades for editors, each with a
title (that very few of us actually worry about). The existence of the grades
tells me there are career opportunities here in the editing profession. If there
was only one grade, it would look like a dead-end job.
