TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
While I personally don't find it offensive, I think that the
combination of a pin-up calendar, combined with the following copy
from your website:
"As the designer, I created the calendar and shaved away extra fat,
masked bruises, and generally cleaned up all the models so they looked
as perfect and delectable as succulent peaches ready to be bitten
into..."
...might start some alarm bells ringing in 21st century business
culture, which is exquisitely attuned to issues of inappropriate
behavior in the workplace, "hostile work environments," and so forth.
If you're going after business customers, I'd advise you to tone down
the copy and/or remove this project from your web site entirely, as it
looks like you've got plenty of other good work to show. Two
rejections (for paying work) in a single week should be setting off
some alarm bells for *you*.
If you're trying to sell the calendar online (I note a Paypal link on
the referenced page) I would consider registering
"minnesotasfinest.com" (if available) and giving the project its own
dedicated site... as you note elsewhere in your pages, which I've just
had a quick look through, this is reasonably cost-effective.
