At my last full-time job, as I was getting the lay of the land from my
manager and doing all the housekeeping things one does during the first days
on a new job, I inquired about the Internet policy and expressed my interest
in staying current on technology and in having access to virtual peers. My
manager said that was fine with him.
I will do exactly the same on my next full-time job. I am hopeful that there
*is* a next full-time job, probably more hopeful than I was a month ago.
Because I've been freelancing for the last three years, I can read the list
whenever I want. I also read several other lists.
