Is it possible to just write the documentation subplan and send it to
your project manager? Get a copy of the master plan and make sure your
subplan rolls up nicely into it. Or send a copy of the full master plan
with the doc tasks included. Your PM must might be grateful that
somebody took the initiative to write it up.

Frankly, I'd much rather write it myself than spend a month trying to
convince a bunch of PHBs of the value of documentation (yes, I have
done it both ways).
