One of the big reasons for using the WebHelp format is cross-platform
publishing. So you should be testing your WebHelp with browsers other
than IE, as a matter of course (hint: this is the argument to use if you
get flack about having a non-approved software on your PC). It's part of
the job. So I still like my suggestion of trying the same operation on
the same computer while FireFox is your default browser. Then go back
and start arguing with IE.
Also, in a shop where IT Dept. won't let you change IE settings, that
means they have taken on responsibility for any problems with IE. If the
WebHelp works fine in FireFox on the same PC, you've got an iron-clad
argument for dumping the problem on your IT department and demanding a
fix... CC: to your project manager, QA and anybody else who needs to
know that what goes out the door... works.
