No, no one is accessing anyone's computer. *Nothing* is installed on your
computer and no information is *sent* from your computer.

It's basic server reporting and totally non personal information.

You say it's done invisibly to the user - i.e. without the computer
owner's knowledge. In UK, it's probably unlawful since you're
accessing data held on a computer without the computer owner's express
permission, and hence the activity is unauthorised. Take a look at
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1990/ukpga_19900018_en_1#pb1-l1g1 -
the Computer Misuse Act 1990 para 1, which can impose up to six months
jail plus a fine.
