After watching my son in taekwondo for a couple of years, I enrolled in an
adult class at his school. At the same time, the school brought in a
nutritionist to give a series of seminars on healthy eating with low
glycemic index foods. Three taekwondo classes a week and the change in my
eating habits made a dramatic difference in my energy level and body shape
within just a few weeks. I worked at home, so I enjoyed getting out of the
house during the day to go to a lunchtime class. I also enjoyed the
interaction with the other students and learning & mastering new skills
for each new belt.
When I changed jobs, unfortuately, I wasn't able to go to the noon class
anymore. I tried the evening class for a while, but was unhappy giving up
my family time, which was reduced already by going from a part-time
telecommuting to full-time outside the home schedule. But I really enjoyed
having a regular exercise routine and did not want to give that up, so I'm
now going to the gym several mornings a week. I like getting up early &
feel like I'm getting a good start to the day. And I'm not sacrificing any
family time because I'm back home & showered by the time anyone else gets
up.
Good luck with your swimming--I hope you enjoy it!
Becky
